Redistricting Needed to End Gerrymandering

Gerrymandering the U.S. Map

The Supreme Court vacated an earlier decision by the federal district court that the partisan gerrymandering in the new map was unconstitutional. In a 5-4 decision, the court rejected a suit by the League of Women Voters of North Carolina, Rucho v. LWVNC, designed to stop gerrymandering along partisan lines in North Carolina.

This month’s League column in the Rockford Register Star is on the need for redistricting to end gerrymandering.

Thank you to June Jacob, as always, for her excellent editing skills.
