Voter Registrars, take note: We have one more Saturday at the Midtown Market on 7th Street, September 7, which will have the Cars & Coffee Show there as well. The car show draws a larger crowd and we position ourselves right across from the entrance. If anyone is interested in manning our table from 10 am-12 Noon for any of the remaining markets, please let Susan Janson know.

The Fair Income Tax Coalition for Greater Rockford (of which we are a founding member) met on Monday, August 12. We are looking for interested League members to help, particularly if this is an area for which you would like to take a leadership role. Leadership includes contacting potential new coalition members, working with other coalition members to coordinate activities for the upcoming year, and working in cooperation with LWVIL and the Fair Income Tax Campaign (Responsible Budget Coalition). Please contact Claire McIntyre.
LWVUS announces a national redistricting town hall From LWVUS:
Because redistricting has long been a priority issue of the League, and a signature part of our Campaign for Making Democracy work, we cannot sit back and wait for the court to change. We do not have to rely on the Supreme Court to solve partisan gerrymandering. There are other paths to creating fair maps nationwide – and the League of Women Voters is the best organization positioned to accomplish this.
We are launching a 50-state campaign called the People Powered Fair Maps Campaign. All members are invited to turn into our town hall on Wednesday, September 4th at 6pm ET / 3pm PT.
