The League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford Scholarship is in its eighteenth year. The Community Foundation of Northern Illinois (CFNIL) administers the funds and the recipient application process for the LWVGR Scholarship on their website: http://www.cfnil.org.
This year, the scholarship amount was $500.
Erika De La Mora, League of Women Voters of Illinois Scholarship recipient, is a 2020 graduate of Jefferson High School and resides in Rockford, Illinois.
Erika plans to study biochemistry at New York University for a career in medicine. Her volunteer activities at UW/Swedish-American, holistic medicine studies at Integrative Health Clinic inspire her to become a psychiatrist. Erika’s volunteer work in Mexico at the DIFJerez organization, where she helped teach people how to make inexpensive household products to distribute to poor communities, helped bring public awareness to mental health issues.
A facile student with a 4.13 grade point average, Erika is a gifted artist, volunteers at Noah’s Ark, and works as a sales associate at a CherryVale Mall store.
The League congratulates Erika for her accomplishments.
This year, the scholarship program awarded 176 scholarships worth $305,046.00 to 144 students.
