The League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford Voter Services Committee deputy registrars registered 84 new voters from the over 300 new citizens created in a United States Citizen Naturalization Ceremony held at the Coronado Theater on Monday, September 25, 2023.
Joyous new citizens and their families accepted their registration as a natural next step in their participation in representative democracy. Deputy registrars furiously completed registration forms, swearing in the new voters three and four at a time.
Deputy registrars were Voter Services Co-chairs Carol Bailey, and DeeDee Soderberg, plus Susan Bartelli, Linda Butkovich, Diane Cushing, Laurie Hamdani, Wanda Hoover, Mary Kowing, Maria Mendia, Judy Schultz, Ruth Swanson, Sue Theden, Dyanna Walker, and Janie Wilson-Cook. 84 new voters were registered from 63 countries.
Three people chose to become LWVGR members.
