This upcoming April, 2025, the Voter Services Committee of the League will kickstart its Stateline High School Voter Registration Challenge by registering teen voters in Winnebago and Boone County public high schools. All 17 and 18 year olds will be eligible to register to vote in 2025. Students will need to present two forms of identification, preferably with a photo, one of which must have their current address.*
At the conclusion of the voter registration drive, the winners of the Stateline High School Voter Registration Challenge will be tabulated and announced by the League. Two winners are possible. One winner will be determined by the most overall registered voters. The second winner will be the high school with the highest percentage of registered voters among the students eligible the register.
* Illinois law does not dictate that a photo ID is necessary to register, it’s just easier. Any official document such as, a drivers license, an electric bill, cable bill, report card, school ID, birth certificate, as long as it has your name as it will appear on the voter rolls, may be used as address ID. If you are a naturalized citizen, please be prepared by bringing your naturalization certificate. A photo ID is not registered necessary in order to vote. Your signature is your proof of registration and voting eligibility
